Gangs

Remember the market I told you about yesterday? Well, here is a story of something that happend today at the same market...

Imagine this...

A peaceful market where people are just trying to make a living.

Three gang members come in to the market, demanding money from a vendor at the market.

The market vendors do not want to put up with this.

All of the members in the market decide to do something about three gang members.

The vendors strip one of the gang members down to his under pants... and beat him.

The other gang member is taken to the middle of the market and torched.

This is a true story and happend just yesterday.

This my friends, is how they keep gang violence to a minimum.

Great to hear of your efforts and travels in Guatemala and I pray God's hand upon your undertaking. Having traveled there to Antigua last February, I received a first hand look into the difficulties they face there and the work that God is doing through the various ministries.

I remember the Banks having heavily armed guards, trucks with armed militia driving down the streets and some of the nicest people I have ever met struggling to make ends meet while caught between the battle between the Government and the Drug smugglers.

My wife's sister, Ileana, who lives near London, England volunteers there with the Gods Child Project and we flew with our son to visit her there. I will never forget the "Hot Rock/glass smell" in the air from the 3 volcanoes there. We had a very good time there and met many of the locals. I was also asked to dance (Of which I obliged her) by an elderly woman there who was celebrating her birthday and danced with everyone in the restaurant. My sister in Law kept telling me "She is going to come over here to dance with you" and she and my wife as well as everyone there had a good laugh and an enjoyable time watching me blush.

I think that it should be deeply encouraged for people of this nation to go and visit people like these and to realize just how good we really have it here, and equally as important, to realize more of our similarities and less of our differences, especially with those that are in the fields working to further the true and unedited message of our Lord and Savior.

    Aloha, Patti:

So blessed that you, Ken and the children are active in missions - I know your support and efforts make a huge impact on the lives of those you serve in Jesus name. Eternal impact!

Your father, Jim, has had a heart to help others for years and wanted to go to Belize for years - perhaps you can include him in your next trip to Guatamala - I know his heart would be blessed by what he could do there, just as you have been.

The destitute, starving and those who need medical care, but do not receive it, are in nearly EVERY country in the world - including our own. Whatever we can do in Jesus name to help them, blesses God's heart.

For my own selfish reasons, I am blessed that you now understand a little bit about my passion in missions - why it is not hard to leave the material things behind and jump in to help those who are suffering. How can we NOT help?

I wish that everyone could spend time in a developing nation, with the poor and destitute, to be able to experience and to see their needs and their suffering. If they did so, their priorities and perspective would change and they could never again eat a satisifying meal or lay their head down on clean, comfortable sheets, or even take a warm shower in clean water without thinking about those who do not have these necessities of life.

Bless your efforts in Jesus name. I love you and miss you all so much.
